Tornadoes
are swirling downdrafts that are extremely dangerous. Tornadoes can be ranked from EF1 EF2 EF3 EF4 and EF5, the
higher the number the more deadly the tornado (which is the Fugita scale). A storm that is most likely to produce
a tornado is a super cell.
The signs of
a tornado are when: 1. you see rotation and a funnel cloud (a funnel cloud
isn’t really a cloud!). 2. The sky gets a light pale green color. 3. One word
hail! 4. A sound of a freight train.
When you are
stuck in a big cell to a small super cell you should look at the forecast on
your television, but if your power goes out you should have a radio and some
spare batteries. If you ever encounter a tornado you should always go to a
basement not a vehicle. Do not try to outrun a tornado on foot tornadoes can go
more than 60 mph. If you are out in the open find a shallow ditch and lie in it
and put your arms over your head. Once again tornadoes are really dangerous.
